This pattern was inspired by my son Alexander, a budding paleontologist. Since the age of 6, he has been asking to have a hat with Dilophosaurus crests. I took the crests as a jumping off point for the chart used in this hat. He is pictured with his hat on a fossil hunt, now almost 11.

[cc] 1 ball of Noro Kureyon (110 yds/50g)
[mc] 1 ball of Debbie Bliss Fez (109 yds/50g)

OR

65 yds each of self striping worsted yarn [cc] and a solid worsted [mc]
Needles:
1 US 5/3.5mm 16" circular needle or three sizes smaller than larger needle
1 US 8/5mm 16" circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge
4 US 8 double pointed needles or size needed to obtain gauge, 10[11, 12] markers, tapestry needle
Gauge: 16 sts and 24 rows = 4" in stockinette st. on larger needle
For reference while working the hat: 18 sts and 24 rows = 4" in stranded stockinette
**Errata - after the last repeat of rounds 1-5 of chart A, work through rounds 6 -13 of chart A before moving to chart B.**
